Waldo

Waldo Machado was the first Brazilian player who succeeded at Valencia CF. With a colourful football display he was highly praised in Spanish and European football alike for over a decade

Waldo Machado, who joined Valencia CF from Fluminense, had extraordinary goal scoring abilities. He was capable of scoring from anywhere. As a matter of fact, he converted 15 goals in his first season, and in the 1962-63 he became the team's top scorer with a record 12 goals. In the 1964 he reached 18 goals and in the 1966-67 campaign, his number six with Valencia CF, he won the Pichichi award with 24 goals. Waldo would still have three more campaigns left to prove his ability and his natural talent for the goal.
