In tune with the club's own strategy of being at the forefront of new technology and applications available on the marketplace
The La Liga de Fútbol Profesional, television broadcaster Mediapro and the Universidad Católica de Murcia (UCAM) university, with the contribution of Valencia CF, have prepared a new technological experience with Google Glass in the Liga BBVA. With the intention of putting Spanish football at the forefront of technology, a new event will take place during Matchday 36 of the season, in the Real Madrid CF vs. Valencia CF game.
Juan Antonio Pizzi, Valencia CF manager, will use Google Glass as a complementary device during the game, in tune with the club's own strategy of being at the forefront of new technology and applications available on the marketplace.
The LFP, Mediapro and UCAM have developed the first native application for Google Glass (and all wearable devices) to allow coaching staff at a football club to obtain all the statistical data needed before and after a game. The application utilises the advanced statistics system Mediacoach, developed by the LFP and technologically coordinated with Mediapro. The product allows for the analysis of play in real time and the extraction of data from every game. Clubs will have all information about their own team at their disposal, plus that of the teams that they will face throughout the season.
The managers will have access to a series of statistics selected in real time, without taking their eyes off the game for a single second. The statistics currently designed for this presentation are grouped into four fields:
With a simple finger gesture, the managers will be able to switch between these groups of statistics, maintaining the selected group on screen with automatic updates every 30 seconds.
Both before and after each game, the managers will be able to consult these statistics.
This application has been developed as a native tool for Google Glass; the interface and functionality are completely specific, in order to make the user experience intuitive and integrated with the rest of the Glass system. The glasses used have pre-game statistics stored before matches, avoiding the need to connect to the internet beforehand. To facilitate live function and data reception, it is necessary to connect the Glass to the internet via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
With this trial, the LFP continues with its objective of making the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante the most advanced leagues in world football in all regards.
