Wilkes’ arrival at Valencia CF was big milestone for the Cub. He played his first game at Mestalla in the Torino shirt. His performance was outstanding and Valencia CF coaching staff decided to sign him immediately. Wilkes saw Valencia CF win the Copa del Generalísimo (current Copa del Rey), though he couldn't partitipate because he was a foreigner.

In 2003, Valencia CF paid him a warm tribute in Rotterdam –his hometown- during a match against Maccabi Haifa. Faas Wilkes was awarded with the Club's gold medal in recognition for his career.

Nowadays, Faas is ranked 72nd in the list of  top goalscorers with their national teams, being also the second player with the best all-time goal average per game after Férend Puskás.
