Francisco García Gómez 'Paquito' was a tall and slim midfielder with great vision and play, a perfect placement and good handling of the ball. He formed the backbone of the Valencia CF team in the '60s together with Roberto Gil and Pep Claramunt
Paquito moved to Valencia in the 1962-63 season from his homeland Asturias, where he had played for several local and regional teams. At Valencia CF he found a club which met entirely his professional and personal expectations. In his final years, he was named the team's captain in recognition for his fruitful career.
Paquito won three titles -a Spanish Cup, a UEFA Cup and a league, and was an integral part of the team in the sixties. He will be remembered for scoring decisive goals such as the famous one he scored in the Spanish Cup final against Athletic Bilbao on July 2nd, 1967, which led the team to the title win. He also earned nine caps for Spain between 1967 and 1967. After hanging the boots Paquito was named the team's manager and formed part of the club’s technical secretariat.
