Edmundo Suárez Trabanco 'Mundo'was part of the legendary ‘electric forward line’ of the 40s. With exceptional physical attributes and outstanding scoring skills, he became top goalscorer of his decade
His 15 goals in his first season at Valencia CF earned him the nickname ‘goal-man’. He reached the landmark of 200 goals at the end of his sports career. Mundo played for Valencia CF for eleven seasons, between 1939-40 and 1949-50. He won the ‘Pichichi’ trophy twice, in the 1941-42 and in the 1943-44 season, scoring up to 27 goals in each term, a record that will hardly be matched. He became Spain's top scorer of his time.
His strong and impulsive character helped him to his offensive abilities and exceptional shot skills from anywhere on the pitch. He earned three caps for Spain. After leaving Valencia CF in the 1949-50 season he was signed by Alcoyano, another regional team from Valencia. But that didn't make him lose his ties with Mestalla as he was named Valencia CF manager years later, bringing with him many glorious days for the club.
