His qualities as a fast attacker and his constant effort made him an excellent fullback
Born in Hospitalet de Llobregat in 1989, Jordi Alba began playing in 1996 with his hometown team, At. Hospitalense. After spending several years in the youth teams at FC Barcelona, in 2005 he moved to UE Cornellà.
The next season he was brought to Valencia CF in the Juvenil A side and was later promoted to Valencia CF Mestalla, participating in their promotion to Segunda B. After that, he was called up by both the VCF first team and the Spanish Under-19s national team.
For the 2008-09 season Valencia CF decided to loan Alba to Gimnastic de Tarragona, and as a regular starter there he was selected for the Spanish Under-21s. He won a gold medal at the Mediterranean Games with Spain in 2009. After his season in Tarragona, he came back to Valencia in the 2009/10 campaign, making his La Liga debut in September of 2009 against Real Valladolid. His qualities as a fast attacker and his constant effort made him an excellent fullback, converted from his previous position as a left winger.
In 2011 the Spanish national team gave him his first cap, in a qualifier for the 2012 European Championships. By now a regular starter for Valencia CF, FC Barcelona bought Alba on July 28th, 2012.
