Nejc Fir set up a Slovenia VCF Facebook group to bring supporters together and also dedicates time to writing for other Valencia fans' pages
My name is Nejc Fir and I am from a suburb of Maribor, Slovenia. Currently I am finishing high school and will continue my studies. I study in the Economics Faculty. I am also a consecutive vice-champion in Dancesport (a Latin-American and Standard dance competition) in Slovenia. In addition to dancing, I am very passionate about Valencia CF.
The first time I saw Valencia CF was on TV when I was a kid. I witnessed fellow countryman Zlatko Zahović play in the Champions League with Valencia CF. As I was growing up, I followed Valencia with my parents. We would watch games every weekend together and my passion for the club grew. In 2004, when Valencia CF won the historic double, I was already a diehard valencianista. It was the right club for me. Many great players were playing in the club during this time. Vicente Rodríguez became and is still my idol. Following the many ups and downs in the past decade, I still remain a very passionate valencianista. Since the 2012/13 season, I have bought almost every Valencia CF jersey and wear them proudly, especially on special occasions.
When watching the team on TV, I have always dreamt about visiting Mestalla. My dream came true last year when I went to Valencia for holidays. I got a special opportunity to meet the coaching staff and team. My parents and I were also able to attend the match against Granada. I still remember every minute of that match. It will always be an unforgettable experience for me.
Nowadays, I'm spreading my love and passion for Valencia CF on Facebook. In 2014, I founded the Slovenian Penya Facebook page known as Valencia C.F. Fan Club Slovenia. On the site I am publishing the latest news about the club in English and Slovenian. The page's audience is from all over the world. However, this is not the only page that I administrate. During the same year, accompanied with well-known fan Darko Kalabić, I became co-administrator of the biggest English-speaking Facebook page about Valencia CF. It is really hard to find a country which doesn't have at least one fan on this page. The page serves as a link between English speaking fans and the club. With the help of online translators and our friends from the Valencia Balkan site, I get the latest news translated from Spanish to English. As soon as I get the news translated, I post it on my pages and share it with the fans. Altogether my two pages are connecting more than 17,000 fans and the number is growing daily. Sadly the number of fans in Slovenia is not huge, but the Slovenian fanbase is very passionate. I am also a part of the La Liga Slovenia group and I cover the news about our club. With my help, a bigger Slovenian audience is getting the latest news on Valencia CF.
In July 2015, our peña had our first meeting. We travelled together to Salzburg, Austria when Valencia CF had preseason matches. We waited in front of the hotel where the team was staying. We waited with our fellow valencianistas from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria and Germany. It was the first time we all met in person, as we only knew each other through Facebook. We were cheering for Valencia CF the whole time and had a blast. We are waiting for new opportunities to meet the team and other fans again.
I would love to thank Valencia CF for all the wonderful experiences that they have given me. For me, it is a pleasure to connect fans all over the world. As valencianista, I have been supporting the team during good and bad times. I really believe in the new project and I am sure that there is a bright future is in front of us. VALENCIA HASTA LA MUERTE! SI SE PUEDE! AMUNT VALENCIA!
