Mukhriza: bringing VCF fans together in Indonesia

Fans' Corner

My name is Mukhriza Arief. I've been in love with VCF since the 2001 Champions League final and I feel sad that VCF lost unjustly.

VCF were not ‘galacticos’ but the players showed they were best together and had spirit and pride in the way they played.

I'm one of many VCF fans in Indonesia. Before, fans of VCF in Indonesia were split into many little groups including Penya Valencianista Indonesia which created a Facebook group by me in January, 2009. Then, I contacted administrators of other fan groups to join in one big group. In July, 2011, I created Facebook fans’ page Valencianista Indonesia and the @Valencia_INA Twitter account.

As time went by we decided to have the first national gathering in June, 2012, in Lembang, Bandung and I was elected as first President of Penya Valencianista Indonesia. It was a nice surprise for us then to find out that 'My Event' one of the event promotors in Indonesia contacted us that VCF want to make a tour to Indonesia in the same year.

The Valencia CF Indonesia Tour, August 2nd–4th, 2012, was a great, unforgettable, moment for us VCF fans in Indonesia.

As a fans' club we have weekly activities like futsal matches, watching VCF match together or hanging out together. From the May 31st – June 1st, 2014, we created a second national gathering in Parangtritis, Jogjakarta. Another special event was watching together VCF v Villarreal in April, 2015, at Brewerkz Restaurant, Senayan City Jakarta that was co-organised by VCF and us.

At the moment I am not regularly playing football or futsal because I am busy with my work and my family but every now and again I do play futsal with my office colleagues and other VCF fans.

I watch VCF matches normally on television or through streaming and if the kick-off time is convenient then we meet up at maybe KFC, McDonalds or a café that has cable TV.

Obviously Barcelona and Real Madrid are shown more regularly on the television and they are teams that win more matches than Valencia, but the fans support the team for other reasons, their spirit, attitude and style of play. They have their moments which make you love the team.

There is a lot of interest in football in Indonesia and I would say it is the joint most popular sport along with badminton.

This year, VCF decided to make a promotional tour of Malaysia and Singapore and we hope Indonesia will have the chance to host Valencia again in the next few years. Amunt Valencia Selamanya !!
