Valencia CF open preseason fixtures with 2-4 win over SC Preussen Münster July, 20 2016 - Paco Alcácer, Rodrigo and Aridai were the scorers for VCF Valencia CF kicked off their preseason run of fixtures with a 2-4 victory over SC Preussen Münster, on a wet night in which play was delayed in the second half due to the rain. Paco Alcácer, Rodrigo Moreno and Aridai were all on the scoresheet for VCF, who also benefited from an own goal by their opposition. Having spent the past three days training in the town of Venlo in their opening preseason camp of the summer, the Valencia CF squad were well prepared for their first match together since returning from holidays. Pako Ayestarán had been drilling new tactics with his players, and wanted to put them into practice against their opponents from the Dutch third division. The first attempt on goal came from Alcácer, who made a burst through that was only thwarted at the last moment by a Münster defender. The second time around, Alcácer was not so forgiving: A well worked combination up front culminated in Rodrigo passing through the defence, playing a ball that Alcácer latched onto for Valencia CF’s first goal of preseason. A few minutes later, goalkeeper Mathew Ryan made a great stop to push the ball out for a corner, and before a quarter-hour had elapsed, Valencia CF were 0-2 up; Münster’s Mangafic turned the ball into his own net under pressure. Münster managed to pull back level before half time, through a terrific shot from Mangafic from outside the box –this time into the opposition net, rather than his own- and Al-Haizameh’s close range goal. Only minutes after the restart, Valencia CF scored their third goal of the game, as Rodrigo produced a brilliant solo move that ended with him placing the ball inside the post. Immediately following Rodrigo’s strike, the skies opened and heavy rain fell on the pitch –requiring a short break in the action. Following the resumption of the contest, Valencia CF quickly made it 2-4 with a goal from Aridai, one of the youth players brought along for the preseason training camp. He was the fastest in reacting to a rebound off the post from Carlos Soler’s shot. A chance for goal number five followed, but Rafa Mir hit the crossbar with his effort and the score remained 2-4 at the final whistle.
