Aridai double as VCF Mestalla sink AE Prat in season opener August, 20 2016 - Aridai hit a double for Valencia Mestalla who got their season underway with a comfortable victory over newly promoted AE Prat 3-0. There have been plenty of changes to the Mestalla side over the summer but this was not evident as they were able to assert themselves on the game and knocked the ball around well. Quim Araujo, Gregori and Eugeni all linked up well while runs from Sito and Aridai caused constant problems for the visitors defence. Eugeni went close early on and from there they continued to create danger but lacked a finishing touch in front of goal. Charlie did hit the back of the net with a shot but was adjudged to have committed a foul in the process. They did finally make the breakthrough after a fine team move which led to Aridai being put through on goal and he finished clinically after 37 minutes. Prat struggled to get back into the game and failed to create much of a threat even on the counter-attack with goalkeeper Sivera seeing little of the ball. Meanwhile, Valencia were lacking the impetus to drive forward and look for more goals. Fran Vallalba was brought on to try and build more of an attacking threat again. In the final stages of the game Mestalla did manage to add to their lead first through an Aridai free-kick and then a fine strike from Villalba from the edge of the area.
