Mestalla held 3-3 after Ebro comeback September, 03 2016 - Valencia CF let slip a comfortable lead as they were unable to continue their winning start to the season with a 3-3 draw against CD Ebro on Saturday. It was a fine first half performance from Curro Torres’ players against an Ebro side that were causing them few problems. Aridai has started the season on fire and he continued his menacing form by getting the opener from an excellent pass from Quim Araujo. From there, Mestalla began to dominate and while Ebro’s tactic was to pressure the Valencia players on the ball they were having little luck. Moving the ball through midfield Mestalla found space for themselves and they picked up a second goal again created by Araujo and this time finished off by Sito. After the break the game continued a similar path with Sito getting his second of the game with a run down the left wing and then he slipped the ball past keeper Marqueta. The game appeared over but Ebro bounced back with Gabarre grabbing a goal and the game changed style with this time the visitors pouring forward and Mestalla looking to hold onto what they had. Santigosa grabbed another for Ebro with 13 minutes to go and an equaliser was increasingly likely with keeper Sivera making some good blocks. The third for Ebro did finally come with Gabarre heading home a free-kick and the result means both sides are now on seven points in Group 111 of the second division. Next week Mestalla take on Atlético Saguntino.
