VCF Mestalla continue unbeaten run against Villarreal

Septiembre, 25 2016 -

A goal from Nacho Gil helped VCF Mestalla pick up three important points in a tough test against Villarreal B that keeps their unbeaten run intact.

It was an efficient performance from Curro Torres' players where thanks to a fine performance from goalkeeper Sivera and a solid defence they came away with victory.

The match started with Villarreal B pushing forward and Aitor Cantalpiedra had a dangerous shot that hit the side netting while the home side had other efforts which Sivera was able to parry.

Mestalla didn't find it easy to get into the match but gradually they were able to influence more and take advantage of their attacking qualities. Sito went off injured but Rafa Mir came on and was a threat from his first run down the wing led to a pass for Nacho Gil to score.

On top, Mestalla began to dominate the game with Quim Araujo, Eugeni and Grego effective in midfield but still it was Villarreal that had the chances in front of goal.

Marcos Mauro, Raba and Franco Acosta all had attempts but Sivera was the hero again with some fine saves.

In the second half Mestalla sat back and looked to hold onto the lead while Villarreal continued to push forward and seek a gap in the defence. Carlos Martínez did find the back of the net but his goal was ruled out for off-side.

In the last minute Javi Jiménez brought down Mario on the edge of the area and was sent off and Mestalla suffered more with a man less but hung on.
