VCF Mestalla take second straight win with victory over CF Gavà October, 29 2016 - VCF Mestalla deservedly won against CF Gavà on Matchday 11 of the Segunda División B Grupo III season, taking a 4-1 victory at the Antonio Puchades. The result, a second straight win for the Valencia CF second team, keeps them in the top positions in the table. Coach Curro Torres decided on starting lineup without the three regulars, leaving Carlos Soler, Lato and Rafa Mir -who started on the bench- out of his initial eleven. Nacho Vidal was placed on the left, with Charlie and Javi Jimenez at centre back and Marc on the right. Ahead of them was Grego, with a line of three formed by Eugeni, Quim and Nacho Gil and two strikers in Jordi Sanchez and Aridai. The chances came immediately for VCF Mestalla. Just 3 minutes in, a perfect cross from Aridai found Nacho Gil, whose header was pushed out for a corner by Gavà goalkeeper Craviotto. Shortly after, Jordi Sánchez hit a shot at the stopper’s feet. The opportunities kept on coming, including a Quim header wide and an effort by Aridai that also failed to find the target. The latter would finally break the deadlock 25 minutes in, played through by Eugeni and able to round the goalkeeper for his sixth goal of the season. Craviotto was beaten again before half time, as VCF Mestalla went 2-0 up. An unmarked Nacho Gil was fed the ball by Jordi Sánchez after a solo run, and unleashed a powerful shot to double the advantage. In the second half Gavà advanced their lines, and were able to pull a goal back. Boris took advantage of some defensive uncertainty to get the visitors back in the game. However, a second yellow card left Gavà down to ten men, and VCF Mestalla brought on Rafa Mir to add to their attacking arsenal. The team fended off an opportunity for an equaliser with a good save from Sivera, and then had a penalty appeal by Carlos Soler waved away by the referee as they took control of the game once more. Mir justified the decision to introduce him to the game with a goal from a Soler pass, taking the score to 3-1, and Cifu capped the win with the fourth and final VCF Mestalla goal in added time. Following the 4-1 victory, next up for VCF Mestalla is a game against Barcelona B on Wednesday away from home.
