VCF Mestalla go down fighting against Barça B

November, 02 2016 -

Valencia Mestalla battled hard but lacked a finishing touch at away to Barça B and ended up paying the penalty as they were beaten 3-1.

It was a harsh scoreline for Curro Torres’ side that dominated the first half and parts of the of the game after the break against the leaders.

Mestalla went out with confidence and looked assured on the ball in a match with plenty of quality. Carlos Soler, Quim Araujo and Grego all threatened and they went ahead through a goal from Aridai.

Jordi Sánchez won the ball in the air and put it on a plate for Aridai to score with his left foot, his seventh goal of the season.

The visitors silenced the Mini Estadi but the game changed with a rare moment of danger from Barça B as Alfaro broke the off-side trap and scored.

Mestalla continued to push forward with Soler and Nacho Gil going close while Barça B did take their chances well through Alfaro and Romera.

Sivera also pulled off a couple of good saves in goal but Mestalla kept going to the end but were not able to take advantage either of the dismissal of Romera.

Next up for Mestalla is a home clash against Sabadell on November 5th from 5pm.
