Valencia CF receive award for boosting the role of women in the workplace, thanks to the club’s partnership with UN Women

Layhoon Chan will accept the Spanish Federation of Women Directors, Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs (FEDEPE) honour from Queen Letizia of Spain

Valencia CF are to receive the 2016 FEDEPE International Award for the club’s partnership with UN Women, in recognition of their efforts in advancing the role of women -especially in the working world. On Tuesday, July 26th, in Madrid (at the Pavilion of the Jardines de Cecilio Rodriguez), Valencia CF Layhoon Chan will be presented with the honour by Queen Letizia of Spain, who will preside over the 25th edition of the awards ceremony. The awards distinguish both the work of women in the areas of economy, society and culture, and by companies, organisations and media that have favoured and promoted the role of women in the workplace.

Valencia CF have been working with UN Women for gender equality since 2015, becoming the first sports club to be a global partner to the organisation. Both entities perform multiple joint campaigns, locally and globally, in their quest to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide. The club and UN Women continue to work with determination to eradicate violence against women and girls, provide education on gender equality and support the empowerment of women at a local and global level. Their determination has been reflected in the many activities carried out by Valencia CF as an outstanding ambassador of this social imperative.

The FEDEPE 2016 Awards are supported by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Services and Equality and the European Social Fund.

The Spanish Federation of Women Directors, Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs (FEDEPE) is a federation of non-profit associations, the origins of which date back to 1987. It brings together female entrepreneurs, managers and professionals from all business sectors and Public Administrations. It aims to provide a space for study, reflection, discussion, training and support, suitable for stimulating the development of the professional careers of women, as well as their access to managerial and professional responsibility with absolute equality, promoting their visibility  both individually and collectively.
