Fans' Corner

My name is Ratko, I am 13 years old and I come from the capital city of Montenegro-Podgorica

I became a fan of Valencia CF seven years ago when there were exciting duels during the 2009/10 season between Žigić, Dani Alves and Pique.

From then I started to follow Valencia's results, but it was only three years ago that I would say I became a real fan of Valencia CF when I also began to watch and look out for their matches. I feel sorry that I watched the tandem of Soldado-Jonas for only one campaign. That season Sevilla kicked us out of the Europa League semi-final with the help of referee, of course. That night I couldn't sleep like most fans of Valencia.

Before the beginning of the 2014/2015 season I had a lot of optimism. I was hoping for a fourth place in the league and a qualification spot for the Champions League and during that campaign I only missed the first match of the season when we played a fierce derby versus Sevilla. I was on a trip then and the match finished 1-1.

As the season went on we played much better and we beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 with the help of San Diego! Before the end of the season we were on course to battle for the second place, but then we went on a run of bad results. Our destiny was to be decided in the last match against Almeria and that was my most exciting match that I watched. I was anxious until the last minute but my favourite player, Paco Alcacer, saved us all with a goal in the 80th minute.

In the Champions League we didn't get much glory and in our group Genk and Zenit went through. We continued in the Europa League where Athletic Bilbao knocked us out with the help of the referee again. This season I expect fourth position but I think we need to make some good signings.

I wouldn't be a real fan of Valencia if I didn't mention legends of our club. My favourite former player is Santiago Cañizares. He was a fantastic goalkeeper and he played around 300 matches for Valencia. It was the 2000/2001 season, when Cañizares was a goalkeeper in the Champions League final, that his mother died and for him it was the worst moment in his life. Unfortunately Valencia lost on penalties against Bayern.

The season before when we played against Real Madrid in the finale we also lost and for me and probably most fans of Valencia we feel sad that we didn't get the most important trophy.
