VCF Femenino kick off Liga Iberdola season with impressive victory

Septiembre, 04 2016 -

Valencia CF’s women’s team, VCF Femenino, took a comprehensive 5-0 win in their Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF opener, beating CD Transportes Alcaine at the Estadio Antonio Puchades. Mari Paz scored a hat trick in the game, with Maya and Peiró also on the scoresheet.

It was Maya who broke the deadlock with the first goal of the 2016/17 campaign, converting a low cross from Carol in the 11th minute with her left foot.

VCF Femenino packed the midfield in the early going, with Carol, Zornoza, Maya and Deborah G. all playing behind Mari Paz. A relative lack of chances came to an end in the 39th minute, when Zornoza fired off a shot that grazed the opposition crossbar. A few minutes later, Mari Paz also came close.

The home side’s advantage was doubled shortly after the restart, thanks to Mari Paz. Carol was again the provider of the assist, sending a ball in from the left for the striker to finish.

From there, the floodgates opened. Carol completed a trio of assists by setting up Mari Paz, who made it 3-0 with 64 minutes played. Mari Paz rounded off her hat trick on 75 minutes, with the only response from CD Transportes Alcaine being a free kick onto the post from former VCF Femenino player Monforte.

Peiró –newly promoted to the first team from the B side- took the score to 5-0 with a goal on her first appearance. It was the final successful strike in a fantastic first game for the Valencia CF women, who immediately established themselves as a team to beat this season.
