VCF Femenino make it two wins from two games in La Iberdrola

VCF Femenino continued their impressive start to the Liga Iberdrola season with a 0-2 win over RCD Espanyol on Sunday afternoon. Goals from Mari Paz and Szymanowski gave the Valencia CF women's team their second victory in as many games, with 7 strikes in their favour and still to concede a single goal.

The team began well at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, generating chances and cutting out the direct play and from the opposition. Paula Nicart made a late interception of an Espanyol chance, but soon it was VCF Femenino who upped their opportunities. Mari Paz had her first look on goal with a shot over the crossbar from inside the area, but it was to be the penalty spot that she put her side ahead -coolly converting after a handball commited by an Espanyol defender for her fourth goal of the campaign.

With the 38th minute strike, VCF Femenino went into halftime 0-1 up and the dominant side.

The second half saw an even better showing from Cristian Toro's players, and they doubled their advantage shortly after the restart. Szymanowski scored in the 48th minute, added to by a series of chances in the following five minutes. Twice VCF Femenino had the ball in the net, with the offside raised on both occasions.

With the team solid in defence and not allowing Espanyol through, there were no further goals in the Matchday 2 game, the VCF women held onto their excellent record and kept a clean sheet to boot. Next weekend they face
Fundación Albacete at the Estadi Antonio Puchades.
