Valencia CF Femenino end 2016 with another victory

Diciembre, 11 2016 -

Valencia CF Femenino finish 2016 on a high as Marta Peiró grabbed a brace in a 3-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF on Sunday.

Centre-half Nicart was also on target as the blanquinegras were rewarded for their attacking play and the win sees them remain in fourth place on 27 points from 14 games.

Cristian Toro’s side went out to play their typical possession football, knocking the ball around and looking to find gaps in the opposition defensive. The first opening arrived with just two minutes played as Banini hit a low shot from a Joyce cross that flew wide of the Sociedad right post.

It was not an easy game though for Valencia as Sociedad set out their stall to be solid and reduce the space. In a cagey battle, Valencia found themselves resorting to some long balls to unsettle the visitors.

There were plenty of lost balls with neither side on top and the only chance of note came from a Zornoza drive over the cross bar on the half-hour mark.

After the break, Valencia went out to attack and Banini went even closer with header that came back off the right post from a Carol cross.

Szymanowski, Debora and Peiró all came on and although Real didn’t make it easy, Valencia finally made the breakthrough with Peiró heading home after 79 minutes. Peiró then grabbed another, slotting home following a defensive error and Nicart headed in the third, with three minutes remaining.
