Five-star VCF Femenino show attacking quality against Real Betis Féminas (5-0)

Marzo, 12 2017 -

VCF Femenino put in one of their best performances of the season at the Estadio Antonio Puchades, taking a 5-0 home victory that keeps them third in the Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF. Mari Paz and Estefania Banini both got braces, with Carol also on the scoresheet.

The Valencia CF women's team debuted a new logo on their kit in the game, proudly displaying the UN Women banner as part of the club's continued commitment to the United Nations entity for gender equality.

Despite the comprehensive scoreline, it was not until 34 minutes in that VCF Femenino got their first goal. Real Betis Féminas had been playing mostly on the counterattack, and the home side had enjoyed opportunities through Debora G., Joyce and Zornoza, but it was Mari Paz who found the net first. She got on the end of a Gaitán cross and put the ball in the net.

Five minutes later, she almost got a second goal; Debora G.'s cut inside was set up for her, but the striker fired the ball over the crossbar.

Carol made it 2-0 just before half time, rounding and beating Betis goalkeeper Miriam.

The second half began with VCF Femenino looking even more solid in defence, but also providing attacking opportunities through shots from Aedo and Zornoza in the opening five minutes. Carol nearly scored again on 58 minutes, but sent a shot wide in a great chance.

Banini got the first goal of the second half, 61 minutes in, when she smashed a rightfooted effort in from outside the box. She would take the scoreline to 4-0, nine minutes later, with a low shot out of the reach of the goalkeeper.

Mari Paz rounded off the scoring with her second goal of the game -her 19th of the season. She turned home a Banini cross to complete her brace.

The game ended with unsuccessful late chances from Joyce and M.Peiro, but the resounding 5-0 win was a terrific result for VCF Femenino. They have now gone 8 games without conceding a goal.
