VCFF claim valuable point away to league leaders April, 15 2017 - VCF Femenino add a well-deserved point to tally After a week off for international commitments, the Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF returned to action this weekend. VCF Femenino took part in the main attraction of the matchday, visiting the Ciudad Deportiva Wanda in the capital to take on league leaders Atletico Madrid Femenino. VCFF and league leaders battled out to 0-0 draw in a high-octane clash to add a well-deserved point to their tally. The game started off at a high tempo at both ends. Two minutes inside the first half, the home side enjoyed the first dangerous chance of the game down the left flank playing the ball back into Esther who fired off wide. A minute later, Tiane pulled off a stop to a Sonia free-kick. On 4 Minutes, VCFF tore away on the counter-attack following a corner kick which had no reward. Three minutes later, Kenti tried to break away- but Joyce stopped kenti in her tracks. On 17 minutes, Stefania Banini found herself on the receiving end of a Carol Férez cross but failed to meet it. Seven minutes later, Carol Férez was flagged up for offside as she was racing on the clear. On 28 minutes, Mari Paz Villas tried her luck from range-but her shot flew over the bar. On 33 minutes,Lola Gallardo denied Debora Garcia following a great Banni Lay-off. Two minutes later VCFF keeper responded with another fine save at the other end. The first-half finished deadlocked at 0-0 with nothing to separate the sides and all to play for in the second half. The second half was as intense and cagey as the first half. On 55 minutes, Nicart made a crucial last-ditch sliding tackle to stop Corredera from unleashing her shot. On 70 minutes,Corredera’s header rattled the woodwork. Paula Nicart responded with another header that was deflected wide off Yanara with 80 minutes on the clock. Sonia’s drive was blocked away by the VCFF backline and was comfortably claimed by Tiane with only five minutes of normal time left to play. The same intensity and tempo continued into stoppage time with both sides searching for the winning goal -but the scoreline remained unchanged and the final whistle was blown.
