VCFF get the win in the historic 17,000 derby at Mestalla April, 23 2017 - Aedo’s double Carol Mari Paz and Peiró were the goalscorers VCFF beat Levante UD (6-0) on Matchday 26 of la Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF. VCFF stay third in the table on 59 points, while the Granotas lie fourth on 51. This means that Cristian Toro’s side are 15 games unbeaten with 4 clean sheets to their name. The historic derby at Mestalla saw the blanquingero side enjoying possession of the ball while Levante UD Femenino were waiting for their opportunity to hit on the counter in the opening minutes. On seven minutes Aedo opened the scoring for VCFF after a delightful Zornoza cross. The blanquinegras had begun the game with greater intensity and the Chilean’s goal rewarded that. Levante UD were restricted to few chances from Charlyn and Maria Jose. Baninni came close to scoring with 17 minutes on the clock; two minutes later, Aedo picked up a brace after a great Joyce cross from the left. Our players were relentless in their attacks and the third one was their reward halfway through the first half. Efforts that crashed against the post and the crossbar had the fans shouting in the stands. The first was from Ida for them, and then Débora G. for us. However, it was the Valencianistas who were celebrating a goal on the 35th minute: Mari Paz got on the end of a cross from Débora G. to make it 4-0. That was how the first half ended, a historic one due to both the attendance and the game itself. The second half began in much the same way as the first had. Carol and Zornoza were controlling the midfield, bolstered first by N.Gaitán and later by Gio Carreras. Aedo, Mari Paz, and Banini were also enjoying themselves up front. In fact, the Argentine, after a strong run, beat Noelia on the 58th minute to make the score 5-0. Carol had the chance to make it 6-0 on the 64th minute, but her header crashed against the crossbar after a cross from Aedo. The game’s intensity, due to the scoreline, had lowered somewhat. Both coaches began to bring on fresh legs and the crowd carried on enjoying the show: there was even time for a Mexican wave in the stands. It was just as the wave was travelling round Mestalla that M. Peiró, a Valencian and Valencianista, ran onto a through ball from Banini and finished, scoring the goal of her life.
