VCFF seal third place with three fixtures remaining (1-3)

Abril, 30 2017 -

VCFF with 62 points to their tally ,round off their best season of all times

The goals from Joyce Aedo and Mari Paz alongside a professional teamwork display guarantee the third place for VCFF on Matchday 27 in Primera División Femenina RFEF after beating UDG Tenerife by (1-3) Critian Toro’s side are on a 16-unbeaten run and  hold an impressive defensive record of nine goals conceded, the fewest in the league. This is their best league position of all times since the team’s foundation back in 2009, beating their fourth position in 2014-15 season.

The game started off at a high tempo at both ends. The Canarian side were looking to mathematically qualify for Copa de S.M. La Reina and our side were looking to tighten their grip on the third place as well as getting the victory in what is being their best league campaign of all times. The first chances fell to the home side with dangerous crosses across the face of goal that were not guided goal-wards. As opposed to the home side, VCFF took full advantage of their chances rattling three goals past UDG Tenerife.

Joyce opened the scoring with 32 minutes on the clock with an impeccable shot from the edge of the box; five minutes later, Aedo nodded VCFF into a comfortable double lead scoring her 7th league goal this season. Mari Paz completed the scoreline in the closing minutes of the first half.

VCFF had a solid 0-3 advantage at the break.

VCFF were off to a brighter start in the second half. Cristian Toro’s side were looking solid at the back well-positioned and enjoying clear-cut chances close to the opposition box. Banini enjoyed two promising chances and Alongisde M Peiro’s chance could have increased the advantage but an in-form opposition keeper denied VCFF their fourth goal of the game.

On the 80-minute mark, the home side cut the deficit from a free kick which took several deflections and was swept home by Luana. The goal galvanised the home side but the scoreline remained unchanged and the final whistle was blown.
