This Sunday at 12am: Valencia CF Femenino vs Rayo Vallecano

Valencia CF Femenino will bid farewell to the 16/17 league season on Sunday, 21st of May at 12am against Rayo Vallecano, on Matchday 30 of the Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF. It will be the last home game of the season and the team will try to give their fans one last home win to round off the most successful league season in their history since being founded in 2009.

The role played by our team in this season’s Liga Iberdrola is great source of satisfaction for all. VCFF are third in the table on 65 points and have qualified from the Copa de la Reina. The quarter-finals will be played on the 3rd/4th of June, while the semi-finals and final will be played on the 16th/17th/18th of June.

The blanquinegras will go into the game against Rayo Vallecano with the same competitive mentality as ever, having won their last game 0-4 away at Real Sociedad.

Cristian Toro’s side face a Rayo Vallecano side who have also already qualified for the Copa de la Reina, and are 7th in the table on 43 points, one point ahead of Real Sociedad in 8th. Last week, Miguel Ángel Quejigo’s team beat Oiartzun KE 7-1 at home.

The team from Madrid have been a difficult team to play against for Valencia CF Femenino in recent years. In the 13/14 season Rayo did the double over VCFF (0-1 and 2-1). 14/15 saw a goalless draw at Paterna, while VCFF won 0-2 in Vallecas. Last season saw a 1-1 draw in Madrid, and a 0-1 away win for Rayo at Paterna. However, this season the blanquinegras managed to get a 0-1 away victory in Madrid, and they’ll be looking to complete the double on Sunday.

Szymanowski, Valencia CF Femenino striker spoke about the visit of her former team: “We’re up against a team who have sealed their spot in the Copa de la Reina, and they’ll want to show everyone what they’re made of and what got them where they are in the table. They’re a brave team who like to play good football. We’ll be focused on playing our game and we’ll do our best to take these last three points of the season.”
