Samed from Bosnia

Fans' Corner

My name is Samed Mustafagić, and I come from Gradačac, a little town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am now 26 and I started supporting Valencia from in 1999.

Santiago Canizares, and then Vicente and Aimar are the main reasons why I became a Valencia fan. Initially I wasn’t such a big football fan and I would just watch the odd game on the television but Valencia still stood out for me and I remember all their important players and games like against Marseille, Porto, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

When David Villa signed from Zaragoza in the 2005/06 season everything changed and from that moment I have watched almost every Valencia CF game. Some people may have Ronaldo, Henry or Ronaldinho as their football idols but for me it was Villa. He is the best player that I have ever watched and now it is still his Valencia shirt that I wear, the white shirt with the Toyota sponsor.

It is true that since 2006, Valencia have rarely won trophies but my love for the club has got stronger and stronger. Valencia are one of the most important things in my life, I was even turning down dates so that I could watch them play.

I cried when I saw that some of our best players were in the stands like Villa and Silva under Koeman and I admit that was one of the toughest moments of my life but I was still happy when I watched Valencia. When we were knocked out by Atletico and beaten by Sevilla in the Europa League it was very hard for me but the toughest of all was the 7-0 against Barcelona. I will never forget the goals from Mbia and at that point I became anti-Sevilla and also against the Nevilles following the Barcelona game.

It wasn’t all bad of course, and especially there was a good half season when we brought in Juan Antonio Pizzi as coach. Even though he was only there for a short time he got a lot of backing from Valencia fans and we had some great games. Knocking out Basel was one of the best moments in the last ten years and there was also a great win over Barcelona in the Camp Nou.

Anyway, aside from Valencia and to talk a little about myself. After leaving school I went to Tuzla university and I am currently doing a politics masters. Along with that I am a volunteer on Radio Gradačac and I study English. My hobby is drawing, having a good times with friends and writing articles for Valencia-balkan.net. On the website I meet a lot of people that are also Valencia fans and in particular Enes Fazlić who is a good friend of mine and we often go out for coffee or lunch. He is a great person.

Like every Valencia fan I have a dream of going to Valencia and Mestalla. In the current team my favourite players are Diego Alves, Paco and Mina while I also liked André Gomes before he left for Barcelona. I am very happy with the signing of Nani and I hope that he can help us to get some trophies this season. Under Ayestarán at the end of last season I was hopeful that we could have got a Champions League place but now we will see how it goes this season.
