Goalscorer Munir targets Champions League

New VCF striker Munir El Haddadi has come to score goals and help the team qualify for a Champions League place, he said in his official presentation at Mestalla on Wednesday.

The former Barcelona home grown player was accompanied by director Kim Koh and sports director Jesús García Pitarch in a press conference and later was introduced to the fans on the Mestalla pitch.

“I am a striker that likes to score goals,” he said.

“I am here to work hard and help the team to do well. I am very happy here, concentrated on the team and our targets.”

He had no doubts in his mind that the blanquinegros can finish in a Champions League place.

“I think we are going to achieve it,” he said adamantly.

Munir already knows Santi Mina and José Luis Gayà from the Spain U-21 side and he said that they have helped him to feel at home in Valencia.

“I get on well with them,” he said.

“They have given me confidence and helped me. I am sure that with both of them in the team they will help me more and it will be easier for me.”

Munir generally played in a forward trio at Barcelona but explained that he was a versatile player and could adapt to different systems.

He explained that when he was younger "I often played on the wings but as I progressed I started to play more as a number nine and I am used to that position.”

When he heard that Valencia were interested in him, Munir said that he was sure it was the right move.

“I have liked Valencia for a long time and I want to give everything for this shirt,” he said.

“I found out about the offer from Valencia and I had no doubts about coming.”
