Festa de l’Afició in Almenara a resounding success

Jaume, Santi Mina, Garay, Montoya, Mangala, Medrán and Bakkali enjoy fan festival

The Camp de la Corona de Almenara in the province of Castellon was packed with around 3000 Valencianistas on Friday evening, for the inaugural Festa de l’Afició fan event. The tremendous turnout showed once more that passion for Valencia CF is thriving outside the city of Valencia itself. The event was also attended by VCF chairwoman, Layhoon Chan, and first team players Jaume Doménech, Santi Mina, Ezequiel Garay, Martín Montoya, Eliaquim Mangala, Álvaro Medrán and Zakaria Bakkali.

The doors to the gathering opened at 5pm, with activities for children, the VCF Fan Zone and DJ sets. Layhoon Chan, executive Anil Murthy, Sporting Director Jesús García Pitarch and Valencia CF players arrived at around 6:45pm, amidst much excitement from the fans. Some 30 of these young fans were given the opportunity to take part in a skills workshop and mini-game with their idols, which ended 1-1, before posing for a photo with the players and the club chairwoman. The children then had the chance to pose questions to the first team stars, showing especially interest in local hero Jaume.

In her speech at the event, Layhoon Chan emphasised that she was "very happy to attend this party in Almenara with Jaume and the rest of the players. When we were in Singapore this year, we saw the happiness of the children when they were with the players. That is why we are taking Valencia CF to many different places, so that those who can't come to Mestalla feel what our team is all about."

"I am very happy to experience this event, and it is wonderful to see everyone so happy," she continued. "You are out motivation. Amunt Valencia!"

The VCF chairwoman and the president of the Agrupació de Peñas, Blas Madrigal, exchanged gifts with Almenara mayoress, Estíbaliz Pérez Navarro, and all of the supporters group presidents who had gathered at the event.

In addition, former Valencia CF players such as Ricardo Arias, Juan Sol and José Vicente Forment -an Almenara native and mentor to Jaume Doménech- were also present as the club brought their 'sentiment' to the Valencia region.
