VCF legend Claramunt to receive special tribute 50 years since debut

Valencia CF great Pep Claramunt will be honoured in an event by the Fórum Algirós, a Valencia CF Foundation initiative, to mark 50 years since his debut for the club, where guests will include Abelardo.

A player who excelled in a variety of midfield roles, Claramunt made his debut for the blanquinegros aged 20, in the 1966/67 season and now this Thursday, November 24th, a special evening will be dedicated to him from 7pm, at Sala de Conferencias, Complejo Deportivo Cultural La Petxina. Entry is free.

Abelardo and another former player Sergio Manzanera will  also be present as will well-known Spanish journalist Alfredo Relaño.

Fórum Algirós was established by the VCF Foundation to keep the club’s rich history alive. The first event was a night to celebrate Mario Kempes and then another reflected on 75 years since the first cup where Francesc Cueva, son of Josep Rodríguez Tortajada, club president during the Spanish Civil War, was given a special gold insignia. Also last September there was another event, called ’90 minutes from glory’, that reflected on the two cup finals lost in 1941 and 1981.
