Valencia CF face tough task to keep LaLiga promises dream alive

Valencia CF set off with a 0-0 draw against Real Madrid and defeat by Real Betis in the XX1 edition of the U-12 LaLiga Promises International Tournament, held from the 27th to 29th of December in Tenerife.

Eight Spanish youth teams and four foreign sides have taken part in the competition that has been organised by LaLiga and the Fundación José Ramón de la Morena at the Estadio Municipal El Peñon.

It will be tough for Valencia CF to now qualify for the quarter-finals and face a difficult clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. They will need to beat the German team and for Betis to beat Real Madrid to automatically qualify.

Valencia CF were runners-up in the previous tournament held in Miami, having lost 4-3 in the final against FC Barcelona and won in 2014. That squad was made up of Daniel Alcover, Diego Peralta, Hugo Montañana, Cristian Mosquera, Adrian Grigore, Hugo Betselot, Marcos Martínez, Martín Tejón, Tomás Inglés, Leo Coira, Kike Ferrer and David Vassilev, led by coach José Luis Bravo.

This competition is made up of Villarreal, Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Sporting, Betis and Sevilla FC from Spain while Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, París Saint-Germain and Middlesbrough FC are the foreign contingent. The final will be held this Thursday at 8.30pm local time.
