Soler rounds off great week with opening goal

Carlos Soler rounded off a great week with the opening goal in the victory over Villarreal. After some good work by Nani on the left wing he played the ball to the youngster, who was also officially named a first team player in the last few days, and he slotted the ball home past goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. It was the first official goal by Soler in the first team.

"I think the win last weekend against Espanyol gave us a lot of confidence, we'd worked hard all week and we came out strong," he said.

"We found ourselves ahead early and, even though in the second half Villarreal had more chances and we defended deeper, we got the win and take the three points back to Valencia. I'm very happy to be playing for the first team, and if my goal helps the team to get a victory, then all the better. Now we'll turn our focus to the game against Las Palmas. I want to give special thanks to the fans who travelled here today; they're having a tough season and this was a good win for them."
