Voro:"We are going to compete the game"

Hot on the heels of a midweek victory against LaLiga leaders Real Madrid, Valencia CF face another challenge this weekend in Spain’s top flight. Ahead of the Matchday 24 game against Deportivo Alavés, coach Salvador ‘Voro’ González addressed the media on Friday afternoon.

In his press conference, Voro explained that, whilst the win at Mestalla this past Wednesday was an undeniable boost for the squad, the quick turnaround means they need to be fully focused on their next opponents.

We can work from another perspective, but always bearing in mind the reality. It's not a question of confusing happiness with dropping our guard -quite the opposite. The win needs to be useful for us to see the path we are on is the right one, and and that when you drop your guard is when you get overwhelmed. We've seen all different things in every circumstance, and we know what the challenge is. We know what the situation is and it's very recent, so it's unforgiveable to take thing slightly. I'm sure the team we won't be relaxing".

"Mauricio is doing an exceptional job with a recently promoted side. To have 30 points and have got to the final of the Copa del Rey shows that he's doing things very well".

"We see Alavés as a side who, besides being well organised on the field, work very hard and have clear ideas about how to exploit their quality. Tomorrow's game is a very difficult one -like every game. Alavés are a side who have grown a lot, and they aren't where they are by coincidence".
