Curro Torres: “We have to be intense, brave and ambitious against Barça B”

VCF Mestalla coach Curro Torres ran the rule over his side’s big match against Barça B, in an interview with VCF Radio on Friday. The former player, who has led the Valencia CF second team to third in the table this term, stated that there was no need to fear this weekend’s opponents.
"In football, any team can win. FC Barcelona B are having a sensational season, but we have no reason to envy them,” he explained. “We will play well, with intensity, and we know who we are facing.”
"The most important thing is to continue doing what we have been all year. We need to compete well, be intense, be brave and be ambitious. We will try to do this for the longest time possible,” he added, before noting that promotion was not the main goal for him as coach.
"First place isn’t going through my mind. I only want to improve on last season. My biggest achievement has to be that the players go up to the first team. Anything else is secondary. I feel proud whenever I see any of our players with the first team.
Another source of joy for Torres this week has been the international call-ups of Antonio Sivera for the Spanish Under-21s, and Ivan Zotko for Ukraine. Although this means that both will be unavailable to him this weekend against FC Barcelona B, the coach is delighted with their progress.
"It’s very good news for the club. We need to be proud that two of our players are representing their countries, even if it means we are without them. We have enough players to cover,” he said.
