Jaume Doménech and Débora García visit Casa Ronald McDonald Valencia for World Health Day

On World Health Day April 7th

As part of World Health Day, held on April 7th of each year to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948, Valencia CF, the VCF Foundation and Casa Ronald McDonald joined forces for a special visit from players Jaume Doménech and Débora Garcia this week.
The pair, representing Valencia CF and VCF Femenino, respectively, went to Casa Ronald McDonald Valencia to visit those at the facility. A small building with colourful balconies located next to the Hospital Università i Politècnic La Fe, it welcomes families who have to move to Valencia due to a serious illness suffered by their son or daughter.

Casa Ronald McDonald Valencia attends to all kinds of treatments (oncology, neurology, nephrology, transplants, maxillofacial, etc.) and families have their own private bathroom and a number of common areas (kitchens, lounges, games room, library, garden area, laundry room, exercise room, etc.). The large volunteer team also provide activities and entertainment workshops to offer a ‘home from home’ free of charge to families who are experiencing such a difficult time in their lives. During its three and a half years in operation, it has housed more than 700 families -16 at any one time. Of these, 80% have been from the Valencian region itself. Families remain at the facility for the duration of the treatment time, be it weeks, months or even a year and a half –as is the case for one of the families currently staying there.
Jaume and Débora G. were greeted by a surprise banner with ‘Amunt Valencia!’ written on it. They signed the banner before they left, as well as shirts that they handed out to both the families residing at the house and the volunteer staff who accompany them.
