There’s still football to be played in the Liga Iberdrola

This Sunday at 4:15pm, Real Sociedad – Valencia CF Femenino

With two games left to be played in the Iberdrola Primera División Femenina RFEF, Valencia CF Femenino face their last away game of the season this Sunday, 14th of May, 2017, at 4:15pm, against Real Sociedad at the Zubieta, on Matchday 29 of the season. The game, with both teams already in the hat for the Copa de S.M. la Reina, will be broadcast live on Gol.

Our team, who are third in the table on 62 points, saw their 16 game unbeaten home run come to an end last week against league leaders FC Barcelona (0-1); our only loss at home this season. The Valencianistas want to get back on the winning track as soon as possible and hope to do so against the “txuri urdin”, as they did earlier in the season (3-0).

The blanquinegras and FC Barcelona are the two teams to have conceded the least goals in the Liga Iberdrola, each side having conceded just 10 goals in 28 games. Cristian Toro’s side have only lost one away game this season, against Levante UD (2-1) on the 19th of November, 2016.

Real Sociedad are seventh in the table on 42 points and after having picked up four points in their last two games against Athletic Club (2-0) and Oiartzun KE (1-1), they hope to win their last home game of the league season in front of their fans. A win would also keep them in the race for sixth place; they are currently a point behind UDG Tenerife.

VCFF go into the game as favourites; we’ve won four out of the last five games between the two teams. In the 14/15 season the Valencianistas beat the Vascas 2-5 away and 1-0 at home. Last season Igor San Miguel Larrañaga’s team got a win away (1-2) but the blanquinegras managed to even up the score by picking up a 0-1 win in the match at Zubieta. This season, Cristian Toro’s side won convincingly at home at the Valencia CF Training Ground (3-0).

Cintia, Valencia CF Femenino defender, analysed the team’s visit to Zubieta. “Real Sociedad always play with a lot of intensity and they look to take advantage of the pace they have up front. We know about their power and attacking threat and we’ll try to deal with it in the same way we have all season. In fact, we’ve prepared for this game with the same enthusiasm and hope as we always do. We want to keep on improving as a team, and be as well prepared as possible for the upcoming competitions that we’ll be competing in”.
