Amunt despite bowing out in cup semi-finals (2-1)

VCFF were not able  to go through to XXXV Copa de SM la Reina final after going down  in semi-finals to FC Barcelona, with goals from Gemma Gili and Vicky Losada for azulgranas y Mari Paz  for the Blanquinaegras. Despite defeat, Cristian Toro's side round off a historic season finishing third in the league and reaching the semi-finals for third consecutive year.

VCFF got off to a slow start in the game and were pushed on the back foot. The first chance for VCFF fell to Bannini with a great double chance. On the 15 minute mark great link up play between Banini and Mari Paz with a cushioned header by the latter forced Paños to rush off her line to claim the ball.

FCB Femení were dictating the tempo of the game, playing their typical possession football and with 20 minutes on the clock Gemma Gili opened the scoring with a long-range drive from outside the area after an Alexia Putellas backheel lay-off.

VCFF were looking for an equaliser but seven minutes later Vicky Losada doubled FCB Femeni’s advantage in the game.

VCFF tried to cut the deficit through Paula Nicart, who forced Sandra Paños into a fine save, knocking the ball behind for a corner. With only five minutes of the first half left to play, Paula Nicart forced Paños to make another stop with a powerful header.

VCFF were trailing by 2-0 at the break.

VCFF got off to a much brighter start in the second half and were looking to get back in the game. The first chance of the half fell to Gio Carreras; her sweet free kick was well saved by Paños. Joyce delivered an in-swinging cross into Banini who met it with a header straight at a grateful Paños’ hands with 52 minutes on the clock.

Débora rattled the bar on the 57th minute with a swerving shot. As the game moved into the final 30 minutes Mari Paz had a goal disallowed for a Yanara offside. The same script followed with 20 minutes of normal time left to play. Barbará came close to scoring in the closing minutes of the game with a cross-strike. Mari Paz hit a consolation screamer from distance seconds before the referee blew up for full-time.
