Valencia CF Mestalla head coach, Curro Torres, spoke to the media after the first leg of the play-off final for promotion to LaLiga 1|2|3 against Albacete Balompié (0-1)
This team never stops working
The head coach said that the team had “given it their all during the 90 minutes, keeping their concentration throughout. The best thing about this team is the fact that they never stop working, fighting, and believing in what they’re doing. There’s a lot at stake in this tie and we’re going to do everything possible to come back in the second leg. It’s going to be very difficult, but the team have proven that they’re capable of anything, so we’re going to work hard this week and one thing I know for sure is that we’re going to give it everything we’ve got.”
When asked about the two VCF Mestalla penalty appeals, Curro Torres said: “I don’t know if they should have been penalties or not, but I’m not making excuses. It’s true that we haven’t been awarded a single penalty this season, but we have to rise above it.”
A very intense team
With regards to the opposition, the Valencianista head coach said that Albacete “are a very intense team who work hard. We knew that they’d play with two holding midfielders and we knew that they would make it difficult for us. It was hard to create spaces but we managed to make three or four good chances but couldn’t get the goal we needed.”
