Football masterclass, goal fest past Betis (3-6)

Valencia CF came away with the win at Betis on Matchday 8 in a thrilling encounter that saw a high tempo by both sides but neither side were able to make inroads in the opening minutes of game. Valencia CF kept on growing into the game as the minutes went by.

Kondogbia broke the deadlock with a stomping header past Adán which opened the floodgates. Later on, Carlos Soler found himself on the receiving end of a Durmisi challenge as he was about to shoot  and he appealed for a penalty but it got weaved away.

The first chance from Betis fell to former Valencia CF winger Joaquin who hit a free-kick which forced a smart full-stretch save from Neto and right after he collected a dangerous ball into Sergio León.

Valencia CF doubled their advantage through a thunderous Guedes screamer from outside of the box past the keeper after Carlos Soler’s shot which was pushed away by the keeper right on the stroke of halftime.Valencia CF were holding a two-goal lead at the break.

Real Betis came out in the second half looking for a quick-fire goal to cut the two-goal deficit pushing Valencia CF back into their own box. Betis were awarded a soft penalty against Kondogbia and Sergio León stepped up to take it but Neto produced heroics from twelve yards for Valencia CF  Minutes on Rodrigo made it three for Valencia CF and his sixth goal from six games with another bullet of a header past Adán.

The goals kept on coming as impact substitute who replaced Rodrigo joined his fellow striker on the scoresheet. He climbed off from the bench to make it four for Valencia CF. Mina beat his marker and struck it beyond Adán.

Betis refused to back down and enjoyed a 6-minute goal rush coming from behind putting three past Valencia CF in a very short space of time which lifted the crowd who were pushing their team to get back in the game. Valencia CF fought back through Zaza who netted the fifth goal for Valencia CF (3-5) and right at the death Andreas Pereira scored the sixth drawing Valencia CF’s winless run at the Benito Villamarín to a close in a nine-goal thriller.
