Valencia CF were back in action on Saturday at the same kick-off time as the last fixture 1 pm, this time at Mestalla in front of their fans. Marcelino’s side were looking to keep the momentum of their opening start to the season going.

The first meaningful chance in the game came from a free kick as Guedes was fouled outside the box.  Dani Parejo gave Valencia CF the lead with a stunning free kick, a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner.

CD Leganés tried to respond through Gabriel’s header just under the halfway mark in the first half. Over the 30-minute mark, Symanowski fired off on the volley but it went over the bar.

The last chance of the first half fell to Beauvve with a close-range effort from the 18-yard box that whistled over the crossbar on the stroke of halftime.  Valencia CF edged CD Leganés at the break, (1-0).

The away side came out in the second looking get back on level terms and three minutes into the second half, Beauvve tested Neto with a headed effort which was saved by the Valencia CF keeper.

Valencia CF were knocking the ball around trying to open up the opposition defence.  The first chance came through Guedes who cut inside and rattled the post just before the 10-minute mark in the second half. Three minutes later, Valencia CF came close to scoring the second following a great link-up play between Soler and Rodrigo.

Valencia CF grew into the game opening the floodgates. Rodrigo nearly got himself on the end of a delightful Zaza cross which was cut off by the defender over the 1-hour mark in the game.  Rodrigo’s persistence paid dividends with 70 minutes on the clock with a close-range header following an inch-perfect Pereira cross.

Impact substitute Santi Mina sprung off the bench to drew a foul inside the opposition box and converted the resulting spot-kick hitting it right down the middle to round off the scoreline.

Marcelino's side entered the club’s history books by picking up seven successive LaLiga wins for the first time ever an so did Marcelino too getting the club’s best coaching start to the season.
