Valencia CF remain unstoppable in the best start to the LaLiga season

Valencia CF visited RCDE Stadium on Sunday to play against FC Barcelona neighbours Real Club Deportivo Espanyol on Matchday 12 of the LaLiga after the international break at 4:15 pm kick-off time (CET).

The opening minutes saw a strong start by RCD Espanyol. Sergio García almost got himself on the end of an inviting ball with Valencia CF knocking the ball about swiftly. Three minutes later, the RCD Espanyol defender forced his own keeper to push the ball over following a back header towards his own goal. Leo Baptistao pulled a muscle into the 15-minute mark of the first half and was replaced by Jurado.

Former Valencia CF winger Pablo Piatti sliced his shot wide just under the halfway mark of the first half as Espanyol kept on bringing menace and applying pressure on Valencia CF who were trying to find a foothold in the game.

The home side kept on working  Neto who was forced into a save by López which had quite dangerous chance of the game but he pulled off another magnificent save clawing the ball over the bar as Valencia CF  were being pushed on the back foot with the home side providing the shots.

The waves of attack by continued with both Moreno and Darder hitting the upright in a space of five minutes as Marcelino’s side trying to play their possession football trying to open up the opposition defence.

Geoffrey Kondogbia enjoyed the last kick of the first half with a right- footed shot that went wide of the target the first half finished goalless at the break with all to play for in the second half.

The home side continued where they left off with Valencia CF enjoying possession and looking to damage with the ball trying to find a gap. Neto was forced off his line just before the  1-hour mark but he stuck a leg out to snuff out the danger.  Four minutes later, Moreno tried it again from a tight angle.  The things took a turn when Marcelino was sent off for dissent at the referee.

There was another twist in the tale as Geoffrey Kondogbia showed up his attacking stalls breaking the deadlock on 66 minutes with a ferocious strike from 23 yards out, an absolute peach of a goal to give Valencia CF the lead.

The game had a cagey spell of play with the home side trying to get back on level terms and Valencia CF feeling more comfortable in the lead with everything looking on the up.  So much so, that Carlos Soler sprung off the bench for the first time to set up Santi Mina with a brilliant delivery from the right hand side into Mina’s path who put the ball down, picked his spot and stabbed the ball from inside the area pouncing on a RCD Espanyol let off and wrapping up all three points for Valencia CF.
