Opposition watch: AFC Bournemouth

Valencia CF continue with their preseason preparations and their next meeting will take place this Sunday, at 4pm against AFC Bournemouth. It will be the second time that VCF face the English side after last year’s draw by 1-1 in the last pre-season.

The opposition

The Association Football Club Bournemouth was founded in 1890 as Boscombe St. John's Institute FC, renamed later on in 1899 as Boscombe FC, their nomenclature has been changed many times. They play their home games in red and black kit, the English side have enjoyed some successful years since escaping relegation to League Two in the 08.09 campaign, the team have experienced a steady growth which has led them to the top flight of English football, despite having been for only two seasons they finished 9th in the Premier League table this season. They have picked up a full set of victories so far in their pre-season:Portmouth (A) 1-2, GD Estoril Praia (A)1-2 and Queens Park Rangers(A)0-1.

The stadium

The friendly game against AFC Bournemouth will be played at the Vitality Stadium, which was built in 1910 and it was completely revamped in 2001. 11,464 capacity.

The city

Bournemouth is a town located in the south coast of England, in the county of Dorset. Founded in 1810, its main tourist attraction is the huge beach, approximately four miles long. In addition, the city is one of the sunniest in the country it has 400,000 inhabitants.
