Valencia CF face another challenge against Atlético

Marcelino and Simeone have faced each other six times, with two wins each and two draws

The fans are looking forward to seeing Valencia CF back in action, after the good sensations in the first two LaLiga games of the season, but the season has only just begun and the team have their minds firmly set on the match against Atlético de Madrid.

Although the two sides go into the game at Mestalla with the same points on the board (4 points), Saturday’s opposition have been at the top end of the table over various seasons, and are sure to make things tough for VCF. They are a team who play at a high level of intensity, and they are a well drilled and cohesive unit, a team in the truest meaning of the word.

Valencia CF are working hard to improve on a game by game basis. Marcelino and his coaching staff have transmitted their ambition to the players, and their message has been taken on board by the whole squad, as they have shown at the training ground on a daily basis with a high level of sacrifice and commitment. After beating UD Las Palmas, the aim is to turn Mestalla into a fortress, as the head coach said in his visit to the Supporters’ Clubs’ Association. One of the aims is for the team and supporters to unite in the effort to be at the top end of the table.

Marcelino has Ezequiel Garay available again after missing out on the match away at Real Madrid (2-2) through injury, and he also has the two new signings, Andreas and Guedes, available for selection. However, Rúben Vezo is out injured and Nacho Gil’s fitness is to be confirmed.

Marcelino and Simeone have come up against each other six times, the VCF head coach is one of the few who have been able to keep up with the Argentine coach, with a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses. His next challenge is on the horizon.
