Uría: It is impressive to still be unbeaten after 13 games, we were more ourselves after the break

Plenty of positives to take from 1-1 draw

Ruben Uria spoke at the post-match press conference and evaluated what was a good point against a difficult opponent like Barcelona, and commended the hard work of the team.

What did you make of that game?

Barcelona are a great team, in the first half they subjected us to quite a bit of pressure, we had to try and win the ball higher and we misplaced passes… but in the second everything changed and we were better, we deserved it more. I liked the attitude that these lads are showing while they are making history.

How are Garay, Zaza and Guedes?

Zaza is good, he put in a lot of effort while putting in a very good performance. Garay took a knock to his side, he will have tests on his ribs where he was finding it hard to breathe. Regarding Guedes, he needed to preemptive treatment due to some stress to his foot. He is going to be out for three or four weeks.

Can you remember a welcome like the one this Sunday?

We are in a big club, things are going well and the fans like to watch an intense team who is looking to create chances and want to win. After scoring our goal we continued to look for another, and I only have words of gratefulness for the support that the players are getting from the fans. From inside the bus, the welcome was very emotionally charged.

After competing with the big two, can you maintain this rhythm?

It is difficult, but we will be wanting to take it step by step. We intend to win against Getafe, but it will be hard and difficult, but we will enjoy this draw.

Do you think that you could have killed the game off on the break?

Yes, we had one chance 15 seconds from the end, but they had one before that. We wanted to win, but the team is very young and they gave everything, they want to improve and it is impressive that they put in such a good second half against Barcelona. After this match day, to be unbeaten and in second place is commendable.

What was said at the break to change how the team was playing?

We told them that they had to go for it, they had been stiffening up. Barça had plenty of the ball, in the first half they had restricted us well. After the break, we were more like ourselves, more like our usual game.

What does Marcelino think? And what about Barça’s goal that never was?

Next season, VAR will be able to sort that out, we are in favour of technology. This time, it has gone in our favour, but I saw it on the television and it is a clear goal. Marcelino was happy, he is pleased with how we faced the game. We are praising the players every day and they might even get tired of it.
