Valencia CF equal the run of results from the 2001/02 season when they won the league

An end an impressive, historic start to the La Liga season for Valencia CF

This Sunday's defeat at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez against Getafe CF brought to an end an impressive, historic start to the La Liga season for Valencia CF, where they had gone thirteen consecutive games unbeaten, matching the run from 2001-02, when their consistency won the league with Rafa Benítez on the bench at Mestalla.

In that season, Valencia CF were in fourth place with 23 points after five wins and eight draws, while in the current campaign Marcelino García Toral's men have secured 31 points thanks to nine wins and four draws, which has left them second in the table, with only FC Barcelona ahead of them. The defeat at Getafe is a shame, as the team fought until the last second to get a point, but luck wasn't on their side in this encounter.
