Rubén Uría: “Overall, we deserved more”

Rubén Uría, who was back on the Valencia CF bench once again, owing to Marcelino Garcia Toral’s suspension, was taken aback by Getafe’s style of play on Sunday.

“It surprised us a little how rough the game was, before the sending off there were a lot of fouls, three yellow cards, but the referee has to judge that style of play. It’s true that such a physical opponent made it difficult to play our game.”

Despite the defeat, Valencia's assistant coach isn’t looking back, but rather thinking about the future.

“Our road map is still the same. We’re a team that has a style of play, we play football, and unfortunately we haven’t been able to do that today due to various circumstances. Sometimes it’s harder to play against ten men, and after the goal for one reason or another we couldn’t play our game. It’s difficult to draw conclusions from this game.”

Regarding the 1-0 result in Getafe, Rubén Uría said that “we’re not going to make any excuses for the defeat. Our opponent scored, we didn’t, we tried and it wasn’t possible. But now we have to keep working hard. We'll look at our mistakes and start thinking about Celta."

He believes in this Valencia CF team one hundred per cent. “We have players we trust, we believe in them, it’s a young, dynamic team. We knew that one day the defeat would come, but we’re not going to change how we work and we still believe in this great squad. We couldn’t win, but I think overall we deserved more.”

On the huge response from our fans at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Rubén  Iría said that “we can only thank the people who came to see us, on a cold day in Madrid. We thank them for making the trip, because the team is giving everything for the fans who motivate them. Now we need to focus on Celta and play in another stadium against another opponent.”
