Valencia CF face UD Las Palmas in Copa del Rey last 16

The teams will meet three times in January

UD Las Palmas are Valencia CF’s opponents in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey. With kick-off times still to be confirmed, the first leg will be played on 2nd, 3rd or 4th January, with the return leg a week later on the 9th, 10th or 11th.

The teams last met on matchday 1 of this season, when Valencia CF got the campaign underway with a 1-0 win at Mestalla thanks to Simone Zaza’s first half goal. The draw means the sides will face each other three times in less than three weeks, with the league encounter in Gran Canaria scheduled for matchday 20, shortly after the Copa del Rey ties.

Valencia CF reached this stage by knocking out Real Zaragoza in the last round. A 2-0 first leg away win saw Rodrigo open the scoring in the last ten minutes, before Dani Parejo’s penalty completed the job in added time. That was followed by a 4-1 victory at Mestalla featuring a brace from Santi Mina.

UD Las Palmas, who are having a difficult season in La Liga and currently find themselves in 18th place, progressed to the last 16 by eliminating Deportivo La Coruña in a thrilling tie that ended 6-4 on aggregate.
