Nacho Gil earns the penalty that gives Valencia CF the win

As in Getafe, he was the first player subbed on as Marcelino looked to change the game

With the game tied at one-all, Marcelino bet on Nacho Gil as his first substitution as he looked to change the game, and the academy product responded, winning the penalty that Dani Parejo converted so that the three points stayed at Mestalla.

The Valencia-born player replaced Carlos Soler and took up a position on the left wing, switching flanks with Andreas, who moved to the right. One of Nacho’s main qualities is his bravery, his ability to look to take on players one-on-one, his speed… and with 11 minutes left in the game, Nacho Gil was brought down inside the box by Pablo Hernández, as the academy product was about to get a shot away.

It was Nacho Gil’s third LaLiga game this season, and he’s been heavily involved in recent weeks, taking part in the last three competitive games. Against Getafe CF, Marcelino brought him on at the break to replace Kondogbia, but he wasn’t able to change the result, as he did this Saturday against the light blues at Mestalla. Nacho Gil is playing his part, and in the last two LaLiga games he has been the first player introduced.
