Valencia CF get back on track with a clean sheet

This is the eighth game of the season where the club have kept a clean sheet, which is more than they managed in the entirety of last campaign

Marcelino’s Valencia CF have now made it eight games where they have kept clean sheets this season, with Jaume helping his side to get back on the straight and narrow versus UD Las Palmas in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday evening. The club have already kept more clean sheets than they managed to in the entirety of last campaign.

One of the aims of the coaching staff was to reduce the huge amount of goals that Valencia CF conceded last season, as they finished in LaLiga with 65 to their name. This campaign, under Marcelino’s orders, they have conceded just 18 so far, as well as two in the cup, but the boss continues to stick to the same party line: they must reduce the number of opportunities that opponents are allowed to create. Valencia CF are now a unit that all work together, both defensively and on the attack.

On Tuesday, Las Palmas managed to hit the target just twice, with Jaume looking very safe indeed. Alongside UD Las Palmas, the likes of Atletico Madrid, Malaga CF, Sevilla, Real Zaragoza, CD Leganes and RCD Espanyol haven’t been able to find the back of the net versus Valencia CF.
