Francis Coquelin offers both experience and balance in midfield

Francis Coquelin has joined Valencia CF to provide balance and bolster the midfield. The 26-year-old Frenchman has good technical ability, but stands out for his defensive duties. He is adept at winning back possession, sitting back and and playing it simple when on the ball, and will provide a consistency.
In past spells at other clubs, they regarded him as a strong, solid and consistent midfielder who is ideal for a tactically rigid side.

Francis was born on May 13th 1991 in Laval, France. He came up through Stade Lavallois Mayenne FC’s academy and at 16 years of age, he received a phone call from Arsenal. Once he had signed for the Premier League outfit, Coquelin had three loan spells at FC Lorient, SC Freiburg and Charlton Athletic respectively.

Francis made 160 first-team appearances at Arsenal, getting the chance to show himself to be a strong, tenacious and energetic midfielder. He has a reputation for his tough tackling, which will help to shore up Valencia CF’s midfield line.

Coquelin is also a two-time FA Cup champion. His first came in 2015 against Aston Villa, before lifting the same trophy in 2017 after beating Chelsea FC. He has played for France at different youth levels, featuring for both their Under-17s and Under-21s.
