Valencia CF are targetting success at Riazor to close out an excellent first half of the season

Marcelino can’t call upon Kondogbia and Andreas, but new signing Francis Coquelin is available

Saturday must be the time for Valencia CF to get back to winning ways on the road in LaLiga. After learning who their quarter-final opponent in the Copa del Rey will be, focus has switched back to the league and Deportivo La Coruna. Marcelino’s men will battle for the three points this evening (20:45CET), to try and hit the magical 40-point mark at the halfway stage of the campaign, a figure that would have been previously unthinkable.

There will be some changes from the side that beat UD Las Palmas at Mestalla in the cup, with Andreas Pereira and Geoffrey Kondogbia both missing due to suspension, but the club’s most recent signing Francis Coquelin is already in the matchday squad. Luciano Vietto is also in the mix, and the Argentine already seems to feel quite at home after netting a hat trick at Mestalla on Tuesday. This weekend won’t be easy, with Deportivo recently able to take a point from Villarreal and lose in “misleading” fashion against Celta Vigo, according to Marcelino.

Deportivo have performed better at home than they have away this season. They have talented individuals, such as Emre Colak, Carles Gil, Adrian Lopez and Lucas Perez, with Florin Andone another sharp option up front too. Cristobal’s men need some points to help try and clamber out of the relegation battle, and may even pack the midfield to try and frustrate Valencia CF.

The dressing room wants to get back to winning ways on the road in LaLiga, and taking three points at Riazor definitely doesn’t look like an impossible task when you consider what the group have achieved up until this point of the campaign.
