Winning is the only objective versus UD Las Palmas

A win is the only thing that both Valencia CF’s fans and players want, ahead of Saturday evening’s games versus UD Las Palmas (20:45CET). After a good start to 2018 and a fantastic first half of the LaLiga season where 40 points were accumulated, the only way to go is forward. Marcelino has inspired a great level of performances from this squad, and they are set to battle again to bring home three points from Gran Canaria.

Forgetting the recent past, Valencia CF will go into this game with a humble outlook, with the dressing room well aware of the fact that UD Las Palmas will be looking to come out and attack them in an attempt to stay up in LaLiga. Playing in front of their own fans after losing 6-0 last week will not be easy for them, but Marcelino’s side will be alert to any danger. They will have to battle to grind out the result required to stay in the top four, and in Gran Canaria the hosts have only lost one of their last four home matches.

After the game versus Deportivo Alaves recently, everyone is aware of the need to go out and perform from the very first minute. “We will look to come into the game in a way that the opponent will not think they can create themselves a goal,” Marcelino said on Friday in his press conference. Since the Christmas break, Valencia CF have fallen behind on three occasions, but against both Girona and Alaves in the cup they managed to turn things around with the right attitude. It wasn’t easy, but this side do not give up.

Marcelino can’t call upon Dani Parejo and Jose Gaya due to suspensions, as well as the injured duo of Carlos Soler and Jeison Murillo, but he will maintain a strong side to try and take three points this weekend. After beating Deportivo La Coruna at Riazor last time out in the Spanish top flight, the aim remains the same versus UD Las Palmas, before welcoming Real Madrid to Mestalla shortly. For now, they’re only thinking of winning this game.
